Years racing & what classes:

Started at age 16 driving my own sportsman, then ran modifieds in New England at quarter mile and half mile tracks - Plainville Stadium, Riverside Park, Stafford Springs and Thompson Speedway. Raced Friday, Saturday and Sunday during race season with occasional mid week shows. Won at Riverside Park, Agawam, Ma, in the 88 and 52, the O at Stafford Springs. Placed first many times in the small block bonus division of the Modified SK at Stafford Springs. Also awarded most improved driver at Stafford Springs.

Moved to Florida 20 years ago and started racing Florida modified, then dirt modified.

The past 3 years I have been involved in the Florida Open Wheel Lite division, the most

fun I have had in racing since moving to Florida. I was Rookie of the Year in 2005 finishing 4th in points, 3rd in points last year and currently in 3rd in 2007.

How he came up with his # :

When racing up north, he was nicknamed "Sonny O".

In 1986- 1987 he drove for Dave Gill at Stafford Motor Speedway and they numbered his SK Modified O. When we moved to Florida at the end of 87, he always numbered his car O for O'Sullivan.

Sonny has been racing for 34 years in multiple classes and around the country. Sonny settled in Florida 20 years ago and has been racing Open Wheel Lites for 3 years. Sonny is also a member of the board of directors for F.O.W.L. He is one of the most personable racers at the track. Sonny is a hard charging racer with many heat wins and eager to get his first feature win in F.O.W.L. Sonny has always been a champion in all the divisions he has ran. I look for him to compete for the championship this year.
